Steps to get started with a payment integration
If you want to build a payment integration with Cartis Payments and Elavon, there are six steps: contact Cartis, a discovery call, initial setup with a solution engineer, coding and development, testing and certification, and boarding your clients (opening their merchant accounts).

How do I start an integration with Cartis Payments?
Start by contacting our team. We listen to your requirements, learn about your business and client base, and work with you on a plan. We also put you in touch with the right people to move things along and answer questions along the way.
To get started, submit an integration consultation request.
What happens on the discovery call?
We connect you with a technical consultant for a discovery call. It helps the project take shape, whether you already know which integration you want or need guidance on the best route.
What do I get after the discovery call?
Depending on your integration type, you are sent the tools you need to move forward:
- Corresponding links within the developer portal and sample codes
- Sandbox account (You will be asked to provide IP/URL for whitelisting if applicable)
- Demo units
- SDK one drive / Postman Collections
- Any outstanding due diligence / integration paperwork that needs to be submitted
At the same time, if you are ready to kick off your integration, a dedicated solution engineer is assigned for the life of the project. You have an introductory call to get acquainted and agree on the plan, and they are available for questions and troubleshooting along the way.
Who helps me while I code?
You develop your application. Both the Cartis team and your assigned Elavon solution engineer are on standby to help with questions at this stage, and can set up follow-up calls if needed.
How do I test and certify my integration?
- When you are getting close to certification, complete a solution statement. Once it is submitted, we request a certification analyst for you.
- If you are working on a card present integration, order B2 EMV test cards. The set you need for certification is the UAT EMV Test Card Set (21 cards).
- After a brief introductory call with the certification analyst, you are sent a test script to work through the test cases.
- When you submit the test script, Elavon carries out a peer review and provides a certification letter.
What happens after certification?
Once the integration and certification are complete, you can start referring your downstream clients to open merchant accounts with Cartis Payments for integrated credit card processing. We suggest starting with a pilot client, to make sure boarding goes smoothly and the system and setup are working.
