How to do a download and EMV key load (Desk 5000 / Move 5000)

To do an EMV key load on an Ingenico Desk 5000 or Move 5000, press the .,#* key, select 8- Host Management, then 1 -EMV Public Key Load. A download sends your terminal file parameters to the terminal. It is usually required when you activate a new terminal, or when features on your terminal have been updated and you want to enable them.

  • Make sure there are no open batches
  • Make sure internet is connected to the device
  • Make sure the external PIN Pad, if applicable, is connected to the device

How do I run a download?

Use this when you haven’t been given a new TMS identifier (signature).

  1. Press the .,#* Key
  2. Key in Password and press Enter if prompted
  3. Select 4 - Maintenance
  4. Select 1 - Download
  5. Select 2 - Start Download
  6. Select 1 - Software/Param

Once authorized, the terminal will communicate out for the download. Once the download is complete, the terminal will reboot, print a receipt indicating the download was successful, and reboot once more. The download is now complete.

How do I run a download with a new TMS identifier?

Use this when you’ve been given a new TMS file number (the TMS identifier, also called the signature).

  1. Press the .,#* Key
  2. Key in Password and press Enter if prompted
  3. Select 4 - Maintenance
  4. Select 1- Download
  5. Select 1 - Setup
  6. Select your communication type — Press enter (green button)
  7. Select SSL ON – Press enter (green button)
  8. Ensure you see Host URL – termupdate.elavon.net
  9. Ensure you see Host Port 6443
  10. Scroll down to Enter TMS Identifier (a.k.a. Signature) – insert the new TMS file # provided to you – Press enter (green button)

    Press on the signature field, pull open the full keyboard, press yellow to remove current TMS, enter in new TMS, press green button, press green button again.

    You will be back at the download menu

  11. Select 2 - Start Download

The terminal will reset a few times and toward the end print a receipt that says “parameters update successful” and reset a final time.

How do I complete the EMV key load?

Once the terminal is back on the main screen:

  1. Press .,#*
  2. Key in Password and press Enter if prompted
  3. Select 8- Host Management
  4. Select 1 -EMV Public Key Load
  5. Select 1 -EMV Public Key Load

    Terminal will download and finish by saying succeeded

  6. Press Enter (green button)
  7. Hit cancel (red button) until back at main screen

How do I see when the last download ran?

  1. Press the .,#* Key
  2. Key in Password and press Enter if prompted
  3. Select 4 - Maintenance
  4. Select 3 - Last Download

How do I find my current TMS identifier (signature)?

  1. Press the .,#* Key
  2. Key in Password and press Enter if prompted
  3. Select 4 - Maintenance
  4. Select 4 - Display Params
  5. Select the + next to Maintenance and scroll down to Signature

Common questions

Do I need a new TMS identifier?

Only if you’ve been given a new TMS file number. Otherwise use the regular download steps.

The download didn’t finish. What should I check?

Check the items under “Before you start”: no open batches, the terminal is connected to the internet, and the external PIN pad (if you use one) is connected. If you need help, contact Cartis support at 1-888-712-0770.
