How to zero out a gift card (Desk 5000 / Move 5000)
To zero out a gift card on a Desk 5000 or Move 5000, open the GIFT menu, select 6 – Zero Card, and swipe or enter the card number. This reduces the balance of an active gift card to $0.

When should I zero out a gift card?
Use it to bring an active gift card’s balance down to $0, for example if the card was activated for the wrong amount, or when you return the remaining balance to the customer in cash.
How do I zero out a gift card?
- Press the GIFT menu from second page of home screen (or press Enter and select 4 – Gift)
- Select 6 – Zero Card
- Swipe or enter gift card # and press Enter
- Choose to print customer receipt: 1 – Yes or 2- No
