The Desk 5000 and Move 5000 ship with a default admin user named 1 and a pre-programmed default admin password. You set up and change passwords in the admin menu under 6 – Security. If you change the admin password, let us know so we can update your terminal file.

  • Applies to: Ingenico Desk 5000, Move 5000
  • Who can do it: an Admin user (only a higher level user can create a lower level one)

What password levels does the terminal have?

There are 4 password levels:

  • Admin: the terminal ships with a default name of “1” and a pre-programmed default password. We recommend changing the default admin password. If you change it, let us know so we can update your file.
  • Manager
  • Supervisor: for example, someone who can do refunds without having the admin password. You can set this up on the terminal yourself. Tell us only if you want to lock features with this password.
  • Clerk

A higher level password works wherever a lower level one is asked for. For example, if a menu asks for a supervisor password, the manager or admin password is accepted.

You can configure up to 9 Admin, 10 Manager, 10 Supervisor and 200 Clerk Users.

What are the password requirements?

Passwords must be 7 to 12 characters long and contain 1 letter and 1 number.

What happens if I enter the wrong admin password?

If the wrong Admin password is entered more than 3 times, the user is locked out for 30 minutes (you can change this with PWLock, below). Call us if you need help.

If a manager/supervisor forgets their password, a higher level (i.e. Admin) user can delete the existing manager / supervisor ID and add a new one.
